Vocational Rehabilitation is the foundation of Avocation’s inclusive approach to service delivery. We believe that everyone deserves to work, and we know that working is about more than a paycheque – it’s about self esteem, about independence and about building up self-confidence. Our Vocational Rehabilitation Services are based upon our philosophy of inclusion, access and independent engagement.
We encourage clients to take a hands-on approach to their return to work action plans, and all of our services, from Assessments and Evaluations to Work Adjustments, Job Trials, Job Search, Job Development, Job Placement, Job Coaching, Case Management and Case Co-ordination actively engage clients a leadership role in their employment planning.
Job Accommodations and Adaptive Technology
Most job accommodations cost under $500, and require very little in the way of purchases, or adaptive technology; however, they do require a vocational specialist to determine what accommodations are needed and how they should be installed. Avocation will conduct a workplace assessment, and determine the need for job accommodations, and by coordinating with other specialists (Occupational Therapists, Visual Impairments specialists etc), Avocation will source and deploy required accommodations, from specialized computer software to ergonomic workstation setup.

Avocation’s Vocational Rehabilitation Services are available in most of Southwestern Ontario, from Hamilton to Barrie to Peterborough and Cobourg. We know how important local access is to clients seeking to re-enter the workforce, and we have solid relationships with agencies and employers across Southern Ontario.
