About
Mission Statement
To promote inclusion and build bridges between job seekers, employers and staff to facilitate barrier-free recruiting, retention and life-long learning.

Avocation is an incorporated nonprofit organization that works with job seekers and employers to provide excellent employment, vocational rehabilitation, return to work, professional development and skills upgrading services.
Whether you are looking for a job, looking for staff or looking to improve your skills, Avocation can help you reach your goals!

Our job seekers say:
"Thank you Avocation! I really enjoyed the Customer Service Program! I have already used some of the techniques in my new job, and they really helped me succeed!"

Our employers say:
"Avocation helped us find a great employee, and provided us with support to ensure that the employee integrated smoothly into our corporate environment. Our Avocation grad was so well-trained that our whole team learned new, useful customer service techniques when she joined us!"

Avocation is a proud member of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce and the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, and works closely with Durham organizations, providing top-tier professional development as well as HR support to help them recruit and retain exceptional, dedicated and qualified staff. A member of the International Customer Service Organization (Toronto Chapter) (ICSA-TO), Avocation is Durham's only certified corporate ICSA trainer.

Avocation is recognized across North America as a leading authority on best practices for barrier-free employment, and our team is often asked to speak to groups of businesses, agencies and job developers about creating inclusive employment models that work. Our speaking engagements include:
